COMICS · HUMAN + SPIRIT
Borrowed Dawn
One festival lamp. Two places that need its light. A repairer and a Spirit cannot decide for the neighborhood.

PANELS 01–02 · BEFORE THE DECISION
Whose light can we borrow?
Read left to right, then down. The choice after panel two is optional; the complete illustrated ending follows.

A light with two jobs
The festival is still awake. Beyond the canal, one traveler has lost the way home.
- Spirit
- “I can see them. My glow will not reach the bend.”
- Repairer
- “The festival lamp could. But it is not ours to take.”

The terms of a loan
The residents have needs of their own. The old reflector’s mount also needs repair.
- Resident
- “My father is still on those steps. Keep them lit.”
- Organizer
- “Could we lend one reflector, and keep the lamp here?”
ONE LOCAL EDITORIAL CHOICE · AFTER PANEL 02
What should the next panel make visible?
Try a direction for the repairer’s proposal. Residents can set conditions or refuse; urgency does not make their consent automatic.
Scripted, local and unsaved. No Agent is called. Your choice reveals a text brief; it does not redraw the panels below. Refreshing, switching episode or changing language resets it.
Continue to the illustrated ending ↓PANELS 03–04 · THE AUTHORED ENDING
A smaller festival. A wider welcome.
This illustrated version follows the shared-reflector agreement, whichever editorial direction you explored.

Enough light for both
They agree: the steps stay bright, the festival arch shines less, and the repairer will mend the mount.
- Repairer
- “I’ll repair the mount at dawn. Will you help me hold it steady tonight?”
- Resident
- “Yes. From here I can still see the steps.”

A promise in the morning
The traveler is home. The borrowed light leaves a repair to finish, not a debt for someone else to carry.
- Traveler
- “I thought I would have to wait for morning.”
- Organizer
- “We lent you a little dawn. The lamp stays until everyone is home.”
End. The traveler has a place at the steps. The repairer has a promise to keep. Dawn arrives while he works.
03 · THE CO-CREATION GAME
From reading a world to making one together.
The next step is not simply more comics to consume. The ambition is a game where humans and Spirit Agents develop a premise, divide writing and art roles, revise panels together and review a finished strip. You direct the story; proposals should remain yours to question.

Read a complete original episode and compare editorial directions without an account. The Empty Lantern Seat also offers a Plan → approve → panel workshop, followed by two branches you can pick and review. These are local, scripted choices.
Proposed next
Free-form Agent writing and drawing, shared projects, personal strip saving and publication are not available here. A future release would need human review, agreed credits and permission; no ownership or income is created by this exercise.
A personal beginning, when you choose.
Planned saving of your own strip would require registration first. Comic saving is not live, and registering today will not preserve this exercise. The existing account flow is for a personal Explorer companion; creation follows registration or sign-in.
